Kirby gets his own Pink + White 2DS in Europe ⊟

It’s like an inverted version of the Peach Pink 2DS North America will receive for Disney Magical World's launch (I prefer the one we're getting in the States). Like that system, this limited edition hardware won't include a pre-installed game copy when it releases alongside Kirby: Triple Deluxe in Europe on May 16. Nintendo, however, will put out a new silver 2DS carrying case on the same day.

Here’s a new Kirby: Triple Deluxe trailer for Europe, too.

Disney Magical World 3DS XL coming to US ⊟

Spotted in press photos Nintendo put out today of Disney Channel star G Hannelius (her first name is just G?) playing Disney Magical World was the special edition white 3DS XL that was released in Japan. It looks like this is also coming to North America, exclusive to Walmart and NYC’s Nintendo World Store — meanwhile, GameStop has the exclusive on the Peach Pink 2DS that will launch alongside the game on April 11.

Judging by the photos Nintendo put out, the North American ”Mickey Edition 3DS XL” looks just like the Japanese edition posted above, except it will say Disney Magical World instead of Disney Magic Castle.

Here’s the back of the Yoshi 3DS XL ⊟

I’m coming around to this limited edition system’s design — the eggs on the white back are cute. Nintendo of America formally announced the hardware this morning, pricing it at $199 for a March 14 release. As we suspected, the system does not include a digital or physical copy of Yoshi’s New Island.

New Theathrythm's box, 3DS XL bundle preorder ⊟

Not a bad cover for Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call! It’s the same design as what’s on the special edition 3DSL XL for Japan, except with more cover. That hardware bundle, by the way, is now available to preorder from Play-Asia for $413.99. Importing a system is really expensive! Still, I know some of you were considering taking the plunge with this kit.

"BioShock developer Irrational Games is being cut down to a team of 15, Co-Founder Ken Levine revealed in an update on the studio’s website. The developer was sitting strong at 200 employees fewer than two years ago."

"I am winding down Irrational Games as you know it. I’ll be starting a smaller, more entrepreneurial endeavor at Take-Two. That is going to mean parting ways with all but about fifteen members of the Irrational team," Levine wrote. "There’s no great way to lay people off, and our first concern is to make sure that the people who are leaving have as much support as we can give them during this transition."

Levine says that current staff will “have access to the studio for a period of time to say their goodbyes and put together their portfolios,” and that other Take-Two studios will be available to “discuss opportunities within the company.” Third-party developers and publishers will be able to participate in a “recruiting day” hosted by Irrational Games, offering outgoing employees interviews for other positions.

Irrational’s goal moving forward is “to make narrative-driven games for the core gamer that are highly replayable.” Additionally, Levine says the developer will move into the digital space exclusively to “foster the most direct relationship with our fans possible.”

"Irrational’s latest game is BioShock Infinite, which will receive its Burial At Sea Episode 2 DLC on March 25. Levine says that while he’s "handing the reins of our creation, the BioShock universe, to 2K so our new venture can focus entirely on replayable narrative," he’s hoping the developer will "build something half as memorable as BioShock."
FROM JOYSTIQ.COM
SOURCED FROM IRRATIONAL GAMES

This is not the shutting down of the studio as kotaku.com is writing it as but it still really sucks. Irrational will no longer be working on Bioshock, and that is so sad.

This brings GREAT sadness to my heart.

Long live Bioshock. <3

But there is still hope for Irrational Games, and I do hope they continue to be successful.

2K; don’t fuck this up.

therpham:

Konami just put up a teaser site for pop’n music ラピストリア. Could it be pop’n music 22, or is it something different? I guess we’ll find out on the 13th, and whatever it is it’ll be playable at JAEPO 2014 this weekend.

Update: After getting some help with the kanji, I’ve confirmed that the text above says what I thought but wasn’t sure enough about to post: “Finally! The debut of a new entry in the series!” so it’s almost certainly pop’n 22.
